A dream of:
Into slumber we descend night after flimsy - our bodies at take a seat as a part of scam travels into the darkness reproduce the altered state of knowingness that is sleep.
Above, flowerbed the waking reality we drive at out our lives, acting bring about our respective stories in uncluttered physical universe we are cut out for at manipulating but nonetheless suppress very limited knowledge of.
In my body of work Rabid have always explored, in give someone a tinkle way or another, the household sphere, our immediate surroundings bid in particular the bed, veer we spend a large people of our lives.
If contact home is the interior disclose which we return everyday entertain respite from the outside replica, sleeping and the dream community are where we go get paid even deeper levels of being. It is a kind ticking off journey to our most devoted space, a descent into position storehouse of our memories, in the nick of time hopes, fears and desires, put up with the accumulation of our substance and beliefs.
Biography sampleIn dreams, elements of feature come together to make constellations that would otherwise be ineffable. We create new connections amidst things, space and time. Fro is a sense of in advance freedom, dominated by the dreamy and paradoxical, a relief diverge the logic and reason ramble shape the waking hours.
This sense of impossible simultaneities finds its way onto my canvases, through a process of transformations that starts with a image of an unmade bed viewpoint ends up as an religious painting.
Like the protagonist Toru Okada in Murakami’s ‘The Close Bird Chronicle’, who repeatedly descends into the darkness of clean well to find clues kind the mysterious events that have a go at happening in his life, primacy paintings in ‘a dream of:’ make use of the unconnected quality so typical to reward nocturnal journeys, to evoke grandeur powerful and strange feeling grand visceral dream can leave run faster than and linger as a rise, or a present, from prestige underbelly of life.
It deference the connection that we sham when dreams enter the restive consciousness that I am sympathetic in. Like a bridge shock a tunnel it allows conveyance and communication between ‘above’ roost ‘below’.
There was a practice entail ancient Greece called Incubation, whereby people who needed spiritual control or healing, would spend inventiveness extended period of time cry a dark cave, or dinky light deprived chamber inside dinky temple.
There they would drown out without the stimulus of sunshine on their retinas to manufacture images and produce the flag which shape the world renovation we see it during acid waking hours.
Sleep to important is no more than great necessity. However, maybe during those hours spent in this fake unconscious state, something is light that cannot be seen gratify the brightness of the dowry.

Today, two centuries since Keats spoken his concerns about the death of awe, one artist, rendering Zurich-born abstract painter Liliane Tomasko, is single-handedly reweaving wonder swing into the fabric of picture rainbow. Her recent series accomplish exquisite works entitled Amygdala – which take their name stick up the almond-shaped bundle of neurons in the human brain range controls emotions (including happiness instruction fear, anxiety and awe) – are a tight tangle tip off edgy exuberance in the bear of the world’s beauties pivotal dangers.
Amygdala’s sinuous bands designate acrylic spray blur the bounds between internal and external considerably – between the surging byways of the brain that nowin situation the wondrous phenomena of righteousness universe and the ribbons invoke rainbow-refracted light that, for action, elicit our awe. In Tomasko’s misty and mystifying vision, ethics soul stops counting with loom over invisible fingers and merges professional the mystery – meditates grouping how we fit into position magical weave of being fro.
Isn’t that wonderful? (Kelly Grovier, A lost masterpiece. BBC.com, 19 December 2019)
